Collectors of the UNC Herbarium
Pamela Burns-Balogh
b. 1949
Most of Dr. Burns-Balogh’s specimens held by NCU are from
Barksdale Airforce Base in Bossier Parish, Louisiana from the
mid-1970s. To date, approximately 90
have been databased, and more will be found as our collection continues to
be catalogued.

B.A. Kent State, Botany, 1971
M.S. Kent State, Botany, 1973 thesis: “Palynology & ethnobotany of some
archeologically important plants”
Ph.D. University of Maryland, 1980 thesis: “A generic revision of
Spiranthinae (Orchidaceae)”
Area of interest: Orchid systematics & evolution
